Custom Subassembly Help

I've read you can add a PDF to a subassembly help file. I’m pretty certain it is placed in the atc file. I get the first one is where the file goes; it’s the second two that I am clueless on. I wasn’t able to locate it in the Developer’s Guide.

SA_BasicBarrier.htm

Thanks

I'm not really sure how you use PDF help.

I can explain how it works for HTML help, then you can see if it helps you get PDF help working.

Individual topic files (.htm files) are compiled into an overall CHM file, along with sundry other items like an table of contents and an index. The first line specifies the name and location of the CHM file.

That second line had something to do with the way the help was invoked. The CHM file can be opened in various ways. That second option, if I remember correctly, is telling the HTML Help to open to the specified help topic.

That last entry is the particular topic that should be opened.

There's an awful lot of "puzzle-solving" necessary to figure out how to create custom subassemblies for C3D. I think I eventually found most topics explained somewhere, but there isn't anyplace where everything is laid out in a nice clear fashion. There's a little bit here, and a little bit there, and it takes a lot of digging to get the complete picture. After lots of pouring over the Autocad help and sample projects, as well as sundry bits of Microsoft help, I finally managed to fit all the pieces together. In the process, I developed a severe hatred of ATC files, but I managed to get everything figured out. Everything you need to know is there somewhere, it's just difficult finding it.

I got everything else to work except for this. I didn't really want to learn how to create a CHM file, but I guess I will.

Has anybody got this to work?

I can't get help to work with a PDF or a DOC.

The topic afaik doesnt apply to a pdf file, you just point to the pdf file and nothing else.

Here I am a decade later still looking for the solution. I guess this is why I don't trust Autodesk to even come close to finishing Infrasucks before abandoning it for the next miracle pipe dream product.

It would be nice if someone, in the past decade, would have updated the program or the help file to be consistent.

And why is there so much white space between these lines? How many times I have to complain about this to have an option to remove the useless empty space that costs me money and time doing useless scrolling. There was a time when I could put in a reply and post a message in the same view. Now its scroll, type, scroll, press Post.

It does appear that one can put a URL in the help file and it will open when you are in the Subassemblies properties dialog box. It will fail if trying to call the help from the Tool Palettes, which sucks.
