CUI and Workspace 101

What is the simplest, most effective way to mange a "main" cui globally, while allowing users to sustain their own workspace environment? In other words, I wish to globally administer the CUI by periodically adding various corporate settings (e.g., custom menus, ribbons, commands, etc). At the same time, I want each user to be allowed to keep their personal Workspace environment settings as desired. Is this possible?

Yes, this is possible. I don't have the Autodesk University class number handy, but there are more then one class handout available that outlines the steps to accomplish what you are after.

I went to the AU class lists and in-fact did find a couple (lengthy) handouts on the topic. I was hoping for a quick, concise answer to my question (I know, wishful thinking right?). Looks like I have some homework to do! Thanks for pointing me toward a good starting place Christopher!

Yeah, the process wasn't as straight forward as I wanted either. I guess if it was then I wouldn't have been hired to do it. So I guess there was an upside for me on the complexity.

Try the 2009 class AU222-1 A Working Enterprise CUI in Front of Your Eyes by Robert Bell.

It's a good step by step guide.

But as you said, there is more then one and you are best looking over a few to see different approaches and views.

The 2009 AU documents are no longer posted on the AU class site. I was able to find 3 other doc's from 2010-2012. These should be enough to help me get waht I need. But, thanks anyway!

Here's a link to the handout: http://aucache.autodesk.com/au2009/sessions/5375/AU09_SpeakerHandout_AU222-1.pdf

The older issues should be posted to AUGI, but I can't seem to find them there yet.
