Adding Block to Station Label Style

I am trying to add a 'Tick' to my Minor Station Label Style. When I click the box with the ... to add the block for my 'Tick', the list of blocks that comes up does not include the block that I JUST created and saved to my BLOCKS folder, which I named 'Tick'.

My question is.. how do I path to a different folder containing blocks, or how can I find out where the default path is for this particular list of Blocks? The list that comes up contains about half the blocks that are in my personal BLOCKS folder.

The blocks available for use are those that have been added to your drawing and are available with the Insert command.

Okay, I did get the blocks to appear in the list. Whew! But now they aren't showing up in the preview or in model space if I hit Apply. I will try to redefine the block in a bigger size and see if that helps.
