Redefining Layer properties from a template to another drawing

I would like this incorporated in AutoCAD. Perhaps in an update.

I would like to be able to redefine layer properties from one drawing (say a template) to another drawing, similar to the ability to redefine a named block of the same name in two different drawings. Right now if you right click on a layer, in DesignCenter, you can only add layers from one drawing to another. If the target drawing layer has the same name, it ignores duplicate layers, and the properties, (ie, lineweight, color, etc...) stays unchanged.

Does AutoCAD have the setting already, that I have not seen?

I am running AutoCAD Architecture 2015 service pack 2 on Windows 7 Pro.

Anyone have a solution?

I assume you are using AutocAD Architecture.

On the Manage tab, check out the Project Standards.

You can update a drawing with all your standards from a pre configured standards template.
