The New One

I wish the new ADT would come out so we could be enjoying trying it, not picking at the complexities of the present one, waiting to see how it compares to R----, etc. But then, I wish for it to arrive only after being thoroughly proven. Conflicted? Me? Sure! Bob

Are you saying the new ADT is Revit?  How can publish
the simplicities of curtain wall construction and than promote
Revit?

Looks like we are all conflicted?

Yes, I would love to see ADT4--don't really want to swith to
R...having spent so much time learning and forcing ADT to do things..but, alas perhaps the time has come to move ahead? Anxiously awaiting ADT4.....Will it have a compact version of Viz inside? So we could actually build our model into a 3D site? ... Do some rendered frame animations, drop in some light fixtures, etc. without having to become Ted Boardman or whatever his name is? we shall see.

Not at all. I think many firms should quit asking
for Revit features from ADT, when they exist in Revit right now.

All too often I sit with a firm and listen to what
they want to accomplish. They say, "We want to move to ADT and we are going to
do this, this and this..." Then I say, "ADT doesn't do that, that and that.
What you just described is Revit. It does this, this and this."  "Ok," they
say, "We'll move to ADT and do that."

They have just set themselves up for disapointment
and failure.

So yes - the industry is highly conflicted.

I stopped forcing software to do stupid computer
tricks after rel. 14. Life has been much more enjoyable since.

If there is a compact version of Viz... do you
really expect it to be as simple as you describe. I don't think so. You'll at
least have to be a mini-me of Boardman. But then if it is a compact version of
Viz, it won't be able to do all the amazing things the full Dr. Evil can
do.

I also think the horspower required to do nice
radiosity solutions will not please the average ADT user who is too 'frugal' to
buy a full version of Viz. That 600Mhz with 256mb isn't going to cut it even
with a compact version of Viz.

Aaron,
I'm with you. Looking forward to Revit. But it would be nice if Autodesk could make Revit and Viz compatible--like the ADT/Viz file link. (By the way I'm running a 2.8Ghz P4 w/2g ram, 128mb video card and 120 gig 7000rpm hard drive--think this will do the trick at least until next month....

Not likely that Autodesk will keep buying Accurender from a competitor to include with R, as they must do for now, once they tame the wild R to their ways. Bob
