Please allow images to be bound to a file

Read in another post:  AutoCAD doesn't (yet) include image files in the drawing itself. Your best bet is to use ETRANSMIT, which puts all files needed in a ZIPped folder: photos, fonts, XREFs, etc.

I have a huge set of drawings with many photos of existing conditions.  When I transmit them to a colleague, none of the images are referenced.  They are all looking for the path on my computer.

Please enable images to be pathed and bound independently, liek dwg x-refs.  ("Insertobj" seems to only inserts a thumbnail, not the image.)

Thanks Adesk!

You can cut&paste an image into acad. Then it's not an external 'xref' and is saved within the DWG.

This doesn't work for me.

If I cut and paste the image the path still appears on the external references palette.

Am I missing something?

You need to open the image in paint or photoshop, select all, copy to clipboard, then paste in acad.

You can insert the image as an OLE object. It will be embedded in the drawing.
