XCLIP boundary in a nested XREF

I have drawn several elevations in separate files.  For each elevation, I have xref'd the plan as an overlay into my elevation file and xclipped it to use as a guide.  When I Xref these elavations on a sheet, the Xclip box from the plan  isn't visible, but it appears when I select and move the elevation around on the sheet.  Unfortunately, it is messing with the extents of the page.  Any idea how to ditch the box in the sheet file without detaching the xref from the elevation drawing?

I have set FRAME to 0 and XCLIPFRAME to 0.

Thanks for your help!
