viewports

I have encountered a problem when creating a PDF. On the sheet there are 14 viewports, and when I plot the sheet to a PDF, one of the viewports plots completely blacked out. I have redone the viewport and Xref, but it still turns out black. Any suggestions?

Is there a max no of viewports you can create?  seem to remember posts about that.

64 max, you can set it lower, but that just turns off viewports on screen and in plots, they don't turn plack.
Is this XREF a raster image? Plotting to what? Using what driver?
