Unknown Command: "AECDTLCOMPMANAGER"

I recently loaded AutoCAD Architetecture 2013 and I am having problems with the detail component manager. I have never used the ribbon much, so I am used to finding the detail component manager on the Unsert oulldown from the menu bar. I am trying to use the ribbon more, but can't find the detail component manager there.

On the Insert pulldown, the icon for the command is just a cloud with a question mark in it. When I select the command, I get the "unknown command" message. Loaded menus include "ACA", ACAD", "CUSTOM", & "EXPRESS".

Do I need to laod another menu to get the detail component manager?

In Autocad Architecture you will find the detail component manager on the Home tab (right hand side if you haven't made any changes to the CUI)

You mention you are using a pull down menu to access the detail components.

Have you done any customizing?

(as far as I know the "classic menu" is not available in ACA but is in plain autocad)

Have you done any customization to the interface such as loading the plain AutoCAD CUI as a partial or perhaps launch plain AutoCAD and loading the ACA CUIs into that?

Have you tried doing a repair from the Windows Control panel?

The steps below will reset AutoCAD Architecture back to a default state as if ACA has been launched again for the very first time.  Once this is done you will find the Detail Component Manger on the Home Tab of the Ribbon as mentioned above.

Issue
To reset the default AutoCAD® Architecture 2013 user settings, you want to reinitiate the secondary installer.

Solution
To reset the AutoCAD® Architecture 2013 default user settings, you must first delete your application files and registry entries for the program. Follow these steps:

Note: Make sure that you back up any customized AutoCAD Architecture 2013 files before starting this procedure.

1. Click Start menu (Windows) > Run.
2. In the Run dialog box, enter regedit
3. In the Registry Editor, browse to the following subkey and delete it:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R19.0\ACAD-B004:409

4. Close the Registry Editor.
5. Using Windows Explorer, browse to and delete the following user's application folders:

Windows 7
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ACA 2013
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\ACA 2013

Windows XP
C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Autodesk\ACA 2013
C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk\ACA 2013

6. Start AutoCAD Architecture 2013. This will initiate the secondary installer, recreating the deleted files and folders.
Warning! Problems caused by improperly editing the Windows registry could render your computer operating system unusable. Microsoft provides a wealth of critical information that you need to know about the registry in the Microsoft Knowledge Base at http://support.microsoft.com/support.

Use the Microsoft® Registry Editor only at your own risk and only after backing up the registry as well as the system.dat and user.dat files as outlined for your operating system in the Microsoft Knowledge Base and in the related solution, TS66513. Additional information about the registry is also contained in the Help topics in the Microsoft Registry Editor.

ACA 2013 on Windows XP SP3 stand alone. I tried your instructions and still cannot get the component manager to work. I have the panel on the ribbon but when I click on it I get this error message "Unknown command "AECDTLCOMPMANAGER". As far as .Net framework these are my versions:

1.1

2.0 SP2

3.0 SP2

3.5 SP1

4 client profile

4 Extended

2007 Microsoft Office Small Business

Are you running ACA2013 "as autocad"? Then it will not work, it's not loaded.

Which Profile is active when you get this error? Check it in OPTIONS>Profiles tab.
