Text won't show up in paper space unless 1/4" scale.

Hi guys,

I'm having a problem with my text not showing up in paperspace under any scale other than 1/4" = 1'. For instance, I have text that is typed up in model space with my sections and elevations... when I set the scale of my viewport to 1/4" = 1' that text shows up just fine but if I set it to any other scale (say 1/8 = 1') the text disapears.

Easy solution to this? Thanks!

Easy? Turn on Annotation Visibility
http://docs.autodesk.com/ACD/2010/ENU/AutoCAD%202010%20User%20Documentation/index.html?url=WS1a91938...

This may have other unintended effects though. So you might want to add the correct annotation scales to the objects you want to show up at a given scale instead.

This sounds like an Annotative Text Issue. To test this select the Scale Lightbulb Icon on Right side of the Status bar (see attached). This will reveal ALL Annotative text.

If the text turns on, Select it and check the Properties. Notice that the Annotative Field is set to on and that the Scale is set to 1/4" - 1'.

To solve, you can either Change Annotative text to Off (and adjust Text Height) or Add 1/8" = 1' to the Scale List. By selecting the ... in the Annotative Scale Field (see attached)

I would strongly recommend setting the proper scale.  I have seen files where someone who did not understand how to use annotative scaling take the former approach on some text items, but not all.  Add in a few additional scales and soon you have a tangled mess that displays poorly at any scale and takes a long time for someone else to infer intent and unravel.  If you do not need to see the text at 1/4" = 1'-0", you can also remove that scale, after adding the scale that you do want.
