Sync Inventor with Architecture

I am wondering if there is a way that you can use the geometry from Architecture in Inventor other than just a visual concept. I am trying to create buildings in Architecture then import them into Inventor. I have tried the "Sync Inventor" command but there is no usable geometry when it is imported into Inventor. I have used Navisworks to show the building layouts but I am needing to be able to take measurements and possibly constrain to walls or other solid objects.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I would think the only way would be to, in a 3d iso view, export the drawing and you will get a 3d drawing of basic autocad entities, I think faces not solids.  I doubt there is anyway Inventor could make much use of native ACA entities.

I found the instructions and it work.:  Hope this helps you:

Hi there,

The ACA building walls in Inventor as an overlay, these are client graphics.

If you want to use them as other asset, you need to do the followings:

1)     Convert AEC objects to 3D solid through CONVERTTO3DSOLIDS command in ACA

2)     Click Get Started Tab>-Create Asset>-Import DWG Solids in Inventor factory

Thanks -Xuesong
