spaces on second level

Is there a trick to get spaces to be on the same level as the walls? On my 2nd floor plan located at 12'-8", the spaces are generating at the ground floor level. I don't remember having this problem before.

I found the solution and it ended up being rather simple. If you make the spaces non-associative, then you can move them to the correct level. Perhaps this is a glitch in associative spaces?

whilst I do create multilevels in 1 file this is not the OOTB approach. With the Project Navigator you would normally create each level in it's own dwg file to be xref'd together.  So the developers would not pick up this bug if it is such because they don't do it that way.
