Space Number with letters

We are using AutoCAD Architeucture 2010.  We would like to be able to use exisitng room numbers for a renovation project.  Currently the building has room numbers with letters in them, ie AS112, T112 or C112.  Unforunately the letters change multiple times on 1 level.    So we can not simply change the desigination on the construct level.  Does anyone know how to do with with 'spaces' in AutoCAD Architecture?  Thanks for the help

Sounds like you are using Project Navigator, so you are likely using the Project-Based room number property.  That is a formula property that concatenates the Level (a Project property, and the one to which you alluded) and an Increment property, which is a Manual, Auto Increment - Integer type property.

You can go several different ways here, depending upon how you want this to work.  I am not 100% clear on how the existing numbering system works, but it appears as though there is some alphabetic prefix (perhaps indicating a department?) followed by a number.  If the first digit of that number indicates the Level, then you could add a Manual, Text type property to the Property Set holding the other room number properties (SpaceObjects, perhaps) that would allow the user to enter the prefix data (for this example let's say that property is called RoomPrefix).

You would then need to add that to the NumberProjectBased Formula property. by editing the property and using the lower left pane to add the RoomPrefix property to the concatenation:

[RoomPrefix][Level][Increment]

If you run into problems with the way implied concatentation sorts the room numbers (if all are alpha-numeric, you may not experience a problem, but if some are all numeric and others alpha-numeric, you will), you may want to take a look at this blog article:

http://architects-desktop.blogspot.com/2005/12/sorting-schedules-by-door-numbers-with.html

The article deals with door number sorting, but the discussion on implied versus explicit concatenation would apply to this room number situation as well.
