A user showed me today that she cannot see any properties for a wall, door, or other AEC object in the Properties palette.
Some options like height, width, etc. are shown, but not layer, style, etc. from the General portion of the Basic tab.
Is this going to be a reinstall scenario or is there a fix for this?
Thanks,
Matt
Can you post us a screen capture? www.jingproject.com is a free download that does a great capture.
Apologies for not getting back sooner. I've been swamped on some deadlines and as the problem is on another user's computer, I haven't had a chance to get a screenshot yet. I have left myself a note to do so and will post back as soon as I have it. Thanks!
Bump. 😉
FINALLY! Sorry this took so long. Below is what we see when we click a wall to see its properties. As you can see, the properties palette shows nothing for Layer, Style, etc. Obviously I can just reinstall. But, I thought if this were something someone knew a fix for, I could save some time.
Thanks!
P.S.: This image also shows another issue two of our computers are having. We have shared palettes stored on our server and these two computers initially show no thumbnails for the tools. Refreshing the palette brings them back. More of an annoyance than anything. But, still troublesome.
bump! - i'm having exactly this problem - please take a close look. i've done the reinstall and still has the same issue. thanks.
The palettes seen in the image look like core AutoCAD palettes and not AutoCAD Architecture palettes. The core AutoCAD palettes and objects inserted off of them, do not have Architectural properties like layer key etc. You need to use the Architectural palettes. Are you running Architecture as Core AutoCAD?
These are the Architectural palettes.
The palettes shown are our custom built 2D palettes. What is placed in the drawing by using these tools is NOT the issue. As you can see in the screen shot, there is a stock AEC wall selected and it is showing no properties as it would on any other machine in our office.
The tool palettes not showing thumbnails is an entirely separate issue.
CCAP has it correct - that is the same problem that I'm having. It has nothing to do with the Architectural palettes, is the PROPERTIES palette not displaying wall/window (any AEC object) properties. Many of these properties (Style, Layer, Sizes, etc) are the primary editing interface to select and set the correct AEC object properties.
Hi everyone.
Ooh, a cunundrum! I had a conversation with a particular user in Portland OR a few months back on this topic. I've seen this before. If I remember right, and you will have to forgive me guys because this memory is rather vauge, it had to do with something in the profile the user had on his computer.
I have a foggy memory of the fix having to do with a importing a working AutoCAD MEP profile that came from a working computer and was installed on the affected computer. The only other thing I could think of is that there may be some inadvertant changes to some of the AutoCAD System Variables.
Hmm. So I was just talking to Joshua B. about this and he reminded me that the profiles specified on the desktop shortcuts dictate AutoCAD to launch with particular *.dll files. Those *.dll files are Architectural and MEP modules that load support for the objects. That's why when we launch AutoCAD Architecture as AutoCAD, then later manually change the profie back to Architecture, the wall tools show up but can't be launched. Those *.dll files never lanuched the Architecture modules because it has to happen at the time of the product launch. Hmm.
Some of this makes logical sense, but it doesn't explain why if you uninstalled, then reinstalled the problem persisted. When you uninstalled, was it what Product Support refers to a "Clean Un-install"? Or was it the standard Uninstall process?
Hmm, I wonder.
That's good info to have. Tell us more about any customizations that exist? CUIx? Profile? pathing? Templates used? That may help lead us to more pertinent suggestions.
Joshua
We have a custom CUIX file that we copy to all computers during install. This user's should be no different than anyone else's. The install process is identical to 5 other machines. Would it be worth a shot to just copy over the CUIX again from a working computer?
You could try a copy of the CUIx, but as Jay Ayala mentioned, you should consider getting a fresh copy of the AutoCAD profile.

I am having the same issue with wall, door & window properties not showing in properties palette. None of
the reply's I'm seeing here have helped. I just did a reinstall last thursday. I am a single user station so there
is no interference from other users. Any help? I am also having my screen go black and shut down whenever
I trim, extend or offset. I can do any other commands but those and work safely. Have been thru tech support
and they tell me it's the graphic card. Not sure why it would only close down on three commands if that were
the case. Would like some help on this before I spend $300-400 on new card.
HELP!!
