Problem w/ PublishtoWeb JPG

I am trying to create some thumbnail jpg images that I can use on my web site. No matter what settings I use or what I try I end up with images that are distorted and very thick lines. I need the size to be 170 x 150 pixels or 100 x 100. I have tried all the available plot styles and nothing seems to work. can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong or how I might remedy this problem.

Try exporting to EPS and then converting to JPG... the publish doesn't make
the anti-aliasing need to smooth pictures

You are plotting: do you perhaps just need to NOT use any of your plot style
tables? NONE is a valid choice. You can always turn it into monochrome in
any graphics app, even PAINT free with Windows.

OR
JPGOUT command, or better yet, PNGOUT command: change RASTERDPI variable to
suit your needs.

Try plotting to a higher resolution. 3000 x 2000 then open the image and
then resize in Photoshop, etc.
