performance tuning

Hello,

Can someone explain the adaptive degradation and performance tuning dialog options?

We have a newer computer that we installed aca2011 on it.  It has 4 gb of ram and has a 1 gb video card. 32 bit

running windows 7.

The person was running 2 cad files, windows explorer, outlook and internet radio on the machine.  Then autocad said it was running out of memory.  Do you want to cancel the current operation.

In aca2008, we could easily have 5 cad files open with no issues.

Is the ram/video card is not enough?  Do I need to change something in the performance box?

thanks

Adaptive degradation is used when you pan, orbit etc in 3D. If you have a view style active (eg hidden, shaded etc) and you rapidly orbit the model, the software will temporarily degrade the on-screen image to boxes/linework.

These days I wouldn't be running acad/ACA on less than 64bit OS with 8Gb of RAM.
