Measurements

I am new to auto cad, so please bear with me.

I am trying to create a simple floor plan in autocad architecture 2013. I have drawn the exterior walls and I now want to draw the interior walls. The problem that I am having is that when I want to place an interior wall I have no idea how far it is away from an existing wall. In other cad software that I have used the distance from another object would auto display whilst placing the new wall. Does autocad have this feature, if so how do I activate it?

There are some good self-guided tutorials on the Net as well as free reading material to catch up on how to use AutoCAD: look up and explore using OTRACK along with OSNAPs, and turn on  Polar Tracking to get what you need.
