Material mapping

Hei

I have little problems with material mapping.

When I apply a material to a mass element the material follow the world UCS, that's ok with me. But when i rotate the mass element the material map remains with the world UCS but not with the objuct.

Does anyone knows how to lock the material map to the objuct when I rotate it.

Thanks alot.

Try changing this system variable, GTLOCATION, from the default value of 1 to 0. This places the 3D Move, 3D Rotate, or 3D Scale gizmo at the same location as the UCS icon. The gizmo orientation is aligned with the current UCS instead of the World UCS

Let me know if this achieves the behavior you were looking for.

Hei Holger Klöcker

Thanks for your reply. I have tried your suggestion it doesn't work.

You see i cold use MATERIALPAM, but sometimes it's too much work to ajust it, and you have to do it every time when you rotate the object. When I rotated the object the material mapping come back to origianl world UCS. And I even tried change world UCS with the angle I worked with, but it would not come the right material mapping.

Instead I have to rotated the whole drawing and ajust the sun angle.

I have a printscrn you can have a look.

It's not easy!

Isn't it something to do with how the material is applied on the

Hatching tab, whether Orientation is set to Global or object and

Other tab and mapping whether it's told to follow 'same as surface hatch' or face or default?

I know for a roof material on the roof object to always fall to the gutter I have only one series of options for it to work.

Hei Ntellery

Thanks for your reply.

I think you got something for me.

(Hatching tab, whether Orientation is set to Global or object and

Other tab and mapping whether it's told to follow 'same as surface hatch' or face or default?)

could you explain little bit more about this?

Thank you very much!

I just had a go myself and it worked fine.

By going into the material definition and changing the mapping from Face to Default it failed and all became the same.  Just bare in mind that it can depend on other settings if it's tied to what's happening with hatching.
