Locating X-Ref

I was curious if there was some way to find where an X-Ref exists in a drawing.  I am trying to detach an x-ref and I keep getting the warning that it exists in the drawing and cannot be deleted.  I have already checked to see if it exists in another x-ref drawing and it doesn't.  I have tried going in to the layer manager and changing all of the layers to a single color to make it distinct and that still did not work.  Please let me know anything anyone else may be able to think of.

That error message usually means the XREF in question is inside another XREF in your top file (aka embedded).

open your other XREFs and search for the one in question (you can detach it there).

I have already tried that and I cannot find it.
