License Issue

I understand that one is allowed to install ADT on two machines that'll be
used for one user. Like a desktop and then a laptop for mobile use.

I'd like to do this, but I know I'm going to be replacing my desktop in a
few months. How do I install it on the new desktop without running afoul of
the licensing procedures and agreement?

Thanks,
Rudy Beuc

uninstall it off the machine you are going to replace? Other than that you should have no problems. i called to authorize the second machine with no problems after it had been replaced.

Well, I was wondering if calling in to get that third key would raise alarms
and laywers.

Thanks,

you would be registering with the same key that was issued with the product, I explained my situation and they did not have any problems reauthorizing for a new machine. Just make sure you follow the EULA and uninstall it off of any machines it should not be on, in your case it would be the older one that is being replaced.

Use the portable license utility when you get the new machine and transfer the license over to it. That way you use the thirty day trial on the new machine, so that you can make sure everything got set up like your old machine, then when everything is good, use the portable license utility to transfer the license.

Although I do not think you set off alarms with AutoDesk until you call them several times asking for new keys.

Thanks for the reply. By the first of the year, I hope to have a new machine
and ACA 2009 up and going. In the meantime with the current business
climate, I'm making just making do.
