Layer Manager

In earlier releases of ACAD, I was able to select a line and hit the layer properties drop down arrow and select a different layer type... In AutoCad Architecture 2010, I could still do this only there are HUNDREDS of layer from xrefs as well... I don't want to see these extra layers from X-refs. I only want to see active layers in the specific file only...

Does anyone know how to organize this, so that I could only see layers that are active???

I have attached the handout for my class at AU2009. Check out tips 14 and
15 as they directly answer your question.

Doug,

I'm using AutoCAD Architecture 2010... I never used 2009.. Invert filter is an option that I don't want checked in my layer Manager...However I created a new layer filter group named No Xref.. I used "~*|*" which exclude the X-Ref layers and that worked for me... The only problem now is that in the quick properties/Layer drop down It still gives me all layers only now it greys out the Xref Layers... I still don't want to see all layers in my quick properties box... If I hit the Home tab and try to change the layer there it works?????????????

I'm not sure why you are still seeing the layers, even though they are
grayed out. When I create a new layer filter similar to your's, I only see
the host drawing layers in the drop down list. Do you see the same results
if you use the invert option, even though you don't want to use that option?
