Is it worth continuing to pay for a ACA subscription

Is AutoCAD Architecture dead? In the past 6 or 7 years they have not added any worth while architectural enhancements.

Is it worth continuing to pay for a subscription?

Hopefully, I get a response from Autodesk.

No disrespect intended, but do you really expect someone from Autodesk to reply to this and say anything other than, "Yes, staying on subscription is an excellent idea."? Only you can determine if the value you are receiving is worth the cost you are paying.

Autidesk us moving to a subscription only model starting 2015. Buying a newer version is going to be full price PLUS subscription entrance fee after that.

DWG version changes lock out older ACA versions from accessing newer files AEC content.

Just because there is a three release DWG-version grace period now doesn't mean it will continue: look at REVIT, every new year release is not capable if saving files down to a previous year version to use.

REVIT is the future for our industry, just not quite the present yet. So options are limited if you're not retiring soon.

Is subscription worth it? As your competitors would say: yes if you're not 🙂

Hi Don,

Subscription value means many things to different people, such as support, new or improved functionality of the underlying AutoCAD product, plus enhancements to the Architecture feature set. I have sent you a message to setup a call to better understand your needs and concerns.

Regards,

Lee
