Inverted drape

Is there an easy way to create an inverted drape? In other words, drape contours, but have the contours on the bottom of the drape? I suppose I could mess with the UCS, but was wondering if there's an easier way.

Messing with the UCS, doesn't affect the drape tool. aargh....

So, the best I can come up with is to drape the contours, subtract that mass from a different mass to get the inverted drape. Anyone know an easier method?

Libby,

How about creating the Drape the 'normal' way, and then mirror in place?
Never tried it myself, tho 'reason' would dictate that it "should" work.

Have you gone to the help and typed: drape mass elements?

Yes, I have. It seems like an anti-helpful question to me... Was there a good reason that you asked???

A mirrored drape will not be the same shape as an inverted one. What I would like is an easy way to create a mass with the contours defining the bottom of the mass. Adjusting the UCS does not help. The only way I've found is to subtract a drape from a solid mass to leave the inversion. Just wondering if there was a one step process I've missed.

I would try creating 2 of them and subtracting one from the other to get
what you want.
Make one with the contours on the top make another that has no contours and
subtract the bottom one from the top.
I think I did that once for water in a retention pond a long time ago.

Just a thought.

See if the attached dwg represent what you are after. If so the yes it's one step process just like regular drape.

Yes, that's how I've done it in the past, it's just a bit sketchy considering how often boolean processes do not work and for no apparent reason.

Nope, not what I want. I don't see how that's not a regular drape. Anyway, I was looking for a mass on top with topo lines on the bottom. Apparently it's only possible by subtracting the drape from a mass.
