How is this done? Windows with lintel and cill

Hi,

The attached file is from the AutoDesk sample project 2009.

It shows part of a wall with windows in it:- I would appriciate advice on the following aspects:

- Why are window Assemblies used and not just windows??

- How are the lintel and cill componets attached? I would add them as a display block in Display Properties - but this doesn't seem to be the case.

Thanks for any help.

The sill and lintel are frame elements.

Is this why a window assembly has been used? as opposed to a window?

OK - I've found that you can add frame elements to a windows assembly.

But I don't think these can be added to windows?

Also, the project I'm working on has a lintel which turns down at each end - I guess you can't do this frame elements on a window assemble as it seems only to extrude a profile.

It this really much use?

I use block added to windows in display props - but I find these very crude aswell...

You can always add a mass element for a lintel. Just assign a style with
material to it.
