How is the lineweight determined when "use object lineweight" is selected for a layers lineweight in the ctb file?

Thank you!

See if this is what you seek, how to assign line weights to entities using LWEIGHT command:

were you able to get the link from pendean to open? I wasn't. I am also curious about the "Object Lineweight" as well.

Dean referenced his own installed AutoCAD Help. Here is a link to On-line help. http://exchange.autodesk.com/autocadarchitecture/enu/online-help/browse#WS1a9193826455f5ffa23ce210c4...

The referenced Help will likely explain it in more depth, but the executive explanation is you assign lineweight in the drawing the same way you assign any other attribute (like color or linetype).  An object can have a lineweight assigned directly to it (the same way you can assign the color "Red").  An object can also have "ByLayer" or "ByBlock" assigned as the lineweight, although the latter only makes sense for objects nested within a complex object (such as an object in a Block Definition) or components of an AEC object (such as a Wall or Door).

We assign lineweights in the drawing, but keep almost all object assignments to be "ByLayer" or, for nested objects, "ByBlock", so that the lineweight assigned to the layer will govern and anyone can easily maintain control over the lineweight via layer management when externally referencing files from other disciplines.
