How do you delete a table style?

After creating a table by referring to an excel file, I am unable to delete it from the drawing. I can erase the table but the style remains and shows up in the external references dialog box (or whatever that box is called).

Have you tried purge?
Table styles don't show up in the xref dialog so you will need to correct
your statement.

I experienced this as well.  After purging a weird block named "A$EBC" from the drawing I was able to delete the unused table style from within the table style editor.

After deleting the table, you might be seeing the datalink in the xref palette. Type datalink, this will bring up the datalink manager  where you can right click on the link and delete it.  It should disappear from the xref manager after that.
