Help setting Annotative text to correct layer

Hi I am new to Annotative text, dimensions, etc. Is is possible to have the annotative text go automatically to your text layer?? I have been troubleshooting for awhile now.

Thanks for the help.

Both mentioned items come in on the proper layer right out of the box, this is determined by the layer key. If you wish to change this (cant see a reason why) you would need to set the layer key on each of the tools properties.

ACA as ACAD:
1. Create a drawing and put annotation in it on the layers you want.
2. Save the drawing hosting the content.
3. Drag a sample annotation element to the palette.
4. Use the palette tool to note and dimension other drawings with.

ACA as ACA
1. Create drawings from templates that have the layer key style built-in.
2. Use the documents group palette and annotation and dimension tabs. The
tools already have the proper layering. Just use them instead of ribbon or
toolbars

Right click on any palette tool and look at the controls you have. You can
automatically layer anything coming off palettes. Set up only once.

Hi. So what you told me to do worked perfectly for my project (I set my text annotative and layers I wanted, then dragged into my tool palette). BUT now that I just started a new drawing, when I clicked on my tool palette text none of my settings stayed. I have to make them annotative again and reset the text page height. What did I do wrong?

Or when you said I only have to set them up once, you mean once for every project? Is there no way to keep the settings for all project drawings?

Thanks so much! Edited by: nalomeli16 on Nov 20, 2009 12:07 AM

It could be a few things. I would first check that your template has Annotative (with the correct font) set as current. The text tool is set up to use whatever text is set as current in your text style. I would imagine that if you typed ST to activate the text styles window you will find that the text that the tool created is the same as the one listed in there.
