edit xref in place run time

I'm getting very long run times to edit x refs in place. Once the exref drawig opens,  sometimes after 2 or three minutes, and I make my edit, It can take ten minuted to close the xref.

Drawing are clean, purged, -purged, recovered audited.  Computer is new workstation and dedicated to CAD only. Very little opportunity for corrupted files.

What could be causing this?

Hi,

Please have a look to this topic in our forum:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-2008/Xref-slow-loading/td-p/1983555

And please specify which release of AutoCAD architecture are you using

CHeck also if opening the xref one by one, takes much time. If does, it means that there is some problem inside the xref. In this case you should check layerfilters, annotation scales, nested block, and other staff. Make sure that all the xref you load in the main dwg, are clean and are fast to load by themselves.

Could be useful if you can attach the files, so we can check them

Thanks

Thank you for your help.  Through file analysis by the Autodesk Subsription Tech support team I was able to narrow down the problem to this.  The drawing was a consultant drawing. The x-ref was loaded by someone else as a block instead of an x-ref. I was trying to access it by the  edit-in-place command.  I re-loaded the drawing correctly as an x-ref and that solved the problem.
