welcome aboard, sounds like you are using the Roof object rather than
aecSlabs so I will address RO. Slabs are easy to get a skillion as they
only have one slope anyway.

With the RO, you only want the slope to one edge but it will naturally
create a hip roof.
Option 1. Trace your outline with roof tool and then select the RO and
right click. Edit the non sloping edges and change their slope to 90 in the
lower box after selecting each edge in turn in the upper box. Here your RO
pitch will be shown in the Properties Pallete and can be changed there.
Better way is to create your roof at 90 pitch or change it once you have
created it and then edit the one edge you want to have the slope on. This
is obviously quicker as you only edit one edge but the PP will show the roof
as having a 90d pitch.

Drop in to the 2nd link below for lots of tips about the RO that you will
find no where else. You might be better starting at the bottom post. Post a
Q here or there if you get stuck.

cheers

Just another quick tip.
When you start creating your roof, you can change the pitch while you build
it.
ie. create the first edge using the pitch, then change the pitch in the
properties pallete to 90 and create the other edges to close.
