Cape cod

i am designing a cape cod house and i can't figure out how to trim the walls to meet the roofline, since the roof starts on the first floor and most of the second floor is all attic space

You can extend the wall to the roof by selecting the wall, right-click (or go to the contextual ribbon Modify tab) and select Roof/Floor line.  Auto-project usually works.  If not, use your roof to draw a polyline, and project to the polyline.

I'm not sure that autoproject works properly if the top of the wall is above portions of the roof.  I think you need to reduce the hieght of the wall to the bottom of the roof and then project.  Edit in place would work well too or the edit in elevation tools.
