Autocad Architecture Hatch freezing

Hello,

We are having problems with hatch feature in autocad freezing on one machine.  It is the same machine as another petson who is not having the same problems.  Driver has been updated and Autodesk reinstalled and service packed to server pack 2.  There doesn't seem to be major issues with component bottlenecks.  SOmetimes hard drive shows high I/O response times.  However the hatch issue seems intermittent.  When it is bad the cursor stats spinnign and the whole program needs to be end tasked to resume working and all work is lost.

Any idea on how else to troubleshoot this issue?

Thanks!

What version of AutoCAD Architecture are you running? (2014 only has one service pack so far.)

Under what circumstances is the "hatch freezing"? When being placed? When opening a file with hatch already placed? When mousing over an existing hatch object?

Is the hatch AutoCAD Hatch or a component of an AutoCAD Architecture object? If the former, is the hatch associative? If so, are you using objects in external references or AEC objects for some or all of the boundaries of the associative hatch?

Thanks.  Please see answers below:

We are running 2013

Under what circumstances is the "hatch freezing"? When being placed?

Yes, when being placed.

When opening a file with hatch already placed?

No.

When mousing over an existing hatch object?

No.

Is the hatch AutoCAD Hatch or a component of an AutoCAD Architecture object?

We think AutoCAD hatch.

If the former, is the hatch associative?

No.

If so, are you using objects in external references or AEC objects for some or all of the boundaries of the associative hatch?

No.

So you are placing a non-associative AutoCAD Hatch object. Are you selecting a boundary or picking a point and asking AutoCAD Architecture to find the boundary? Are you certain that the point picked is fully bounded? If there are gaps, it may take AutoCAD a while to determine that there is not a defined boundary for the selected point.

If you start a new, empty drawing and draw a closed polyline, can you hatch the interior of the polyline on the problem machine?

Yes point picked is fully bound.

I you start a newe, empty drawing and draw a closed polyline, can you hatch the interior of the polyline on the problem machine?

Yes, easily.  The problem occurs in a complicated drawing with several blocks, text and dimensions inserted into the drawing.  Hatching the polyline boundary always works fine, but the hatch then does not respect other objects like room names, doors, etc...
