We installed ACA 2012 a few weeks ago on computers running Windows Vista Business 64-bit. On one of our machines, the Detail Component Manager was working fine and now when we go to insert an object the insertion fails with a *cancel* appearing on the command line.
I have checked all of the file paths and folder permissions and everything is fine. Microsoft.Net Framework 4 Client & Extended is installed as along with Microsoft.Net Framework 3.5 SP1.
Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Can you manually open the database file in Microsoft Access?
If so the database is intact and not suspect. The issue would then typically point to the language code used for relay of this information. In this case the Microsoft .NET framework 3.5. SP1. You can then run a repair to this .Net (from control panel) and restart your system to then test your installation after you have verified manual access o the MDB file.
I wanted to check in and see if the repair resolved this inquiry. Please let us know in the users group if further assistance is needed on this issue moving forward. Thank you.
I tried the repair to the .net Framework 4 file and unfortunately, it did not resolve the problem, The Detail Component Manger still cancels upon object insertion. Sorry for the time delay in response, I am only working part time for the time being. The problem is only occuring on one computer, the other computers work fine and they have the same set-up.
Hi Ken,
Try the reinstall option from your original disk. It should give you the option to install the content libraries only, if they are missing.
I had the same problem and this fixed the issue. I still cannot figure out how the problem occurred as the content was originally working fine and suddenly stopped working! It was a short time after installing ACA2012 service pack so maybe this caused the issue?
I hope this works for you as it did for me!

We upgraded to ACA 2013 and the Detail Manager in ACA 2013 was working fine unti yesterday when it failed to insert an object just like ACA 2012. I am suspecting that it maybe a Windows Vista issue, but not sure how to prove that or fix it.
We are planning on upgrading our computers in 2013 so I need to keep our current system functional until then.
Just a word of warning, I believe all 2013 products are no longer supported on Windows Vista OS. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=14078105&linkID=9240617

Kjneitzke: The issue does sound Windows based and you may want to try a new Windows user account to overcome this issue. This would just be a test account and once confirmed the issue is resolved, I would then advise transfer of Windows settings or recreating the Windows profile as needed.
MarySeufert: You are correct on the Vista support. Microsoft recently discontinued the Vista line and is no longer supporting this line which has driven the market to no longer support it either. I have included a detailed link below on this for reference from Autodesk website.
