2D Section Linework Missing

I'm working with Architecture 2011 and when I draw a 2D section, the defining line is missing for the structural members cut by the section. The hatching displays fine but the line around the material isn't there.

Under the material definitions I've got the 2d section / elevation linework turned on and under the elevation style I've got the defining line turned on and set to by material.

The defining line will come on if I turn on the inner and outer shrinkwrap but then it's color is defined either by layer or by color in which case it's all the same color and i have to manually edit the linework to change the color.

What gives?

Lines missing?  if you have the merge common materials box ticked this can lead to lines going missing. (ie. it doesn't work properly).

Not sure on the colour item.
