AutoCAD 360 Mobile - Use onsite

Hi,

This is more of a general questions to see how many people are using the AutoCAD 360 mobile app.

I have not use the AutoCAD 360 for a number of years and I found it extremely useful when I did. I am just evaluating if its going to be a useful tool for my team to start using while out onsite.

Over the last few days I have been testing it, by uploading to A360 drive and then testing it on the iPad at my desk which seems to work OK. I am yet to test it properly in the field.

So my question is do you need to have internet access at all times?

If I don't have access do I need to download them offline before I go to site?

What about using dwf or dwfx instead of dwg?

I can see the really benefit in having a digital copy or copies of drawings. Saves on paper and carrying loads of drawings. If I need to share information with others I can do so quickly as long as I have access to internet.

Using the AutoCAD 360 app

One thing I have come across is that when you add a layer on the app it doesn't give you the option to change the layer colour.

Does anyone know if you can do this? Its not a major issue I will just create a comments layer before I upload the file.

Thanks

Gareth

Hi @Anonymous,

AutoCAD 360 mobile app for iOS, Android and Win 10, allows you to view and edit your drawings when you are offline. Once the files have been synced locally, you will be able to open them without an Internet connection. Any of the files that were downloaded will be available to view, edit and markup as normal.

For more info, check out this article- http://help.autocad360.com/customer/portal/articles/1549477

At this point, due to some syncing issues between AutoCAD 360 and A360 Drive, we recommend uploading files directly to AutoCAD 360, and access them through any platfrom (iOS, Android, Win 10 and Web).

AutoCAD 360 also allows you to connect to external storage (Dropbox, Google Drive and One Drive)-

http://help.autocad360.com/customer/en_us/portal/articles/1561593-how-to-connect-my-autocad-360-account-to-external-storage-services-using-my-mobile-device

DWF files are not supported.

Feel free to contact us with any question at feedback@autocad360.com

Thanks,
