XREF FIELD DATA AND EDITED IN PLACE

I have a problem with this tabulated area data using field link to a polyline in the drawing. I xref the file with a table in another drawing then modify it using modify xref in place and after I saved the xref file when I open it all the linked data from a polyline was lost. All the cells on the area column displays a pound sign. Can someone explain to me what just happened? Thanks. I attached an image before and after editing in place.

Instead of modifying the xref in place, try opening the xref and modify the polylines.

Update and reload the xref and see if you have the same problem
