Windows explorer - Drag & Drop not working

preface:

new install of Autocad 2012 and 2014 here at the office.

problem:

I cannot drag and drop from windows explorer into autocad (2012 or 2014).

here is the list of files so far that will not work...

LSP, DWG, SCR, TXT, JPG

I get the black circle with a line through it.

Drag and drop works fine in TEXTPAD, Microsoft office products and between folder.

this was the first thing i checked.

its on and good to go.

Out IT guy has found an issue.

We use VIEWFINITY for our AEP (permissions controls).

When he turns it off, we can drag and drop just fine.

When its on - we encounter the problem.

It seems we will need to review the configuration for ViewFinity to come to a resolve.

Closer now, than i was this morning.

Found the needle in the haystack. Now, we just need to figure out how to pick up the needle and remove it.

Thanks for you help.

I will post a more comprehensive solution when its fixed.

cheers,

After a thorough search for an answer, and alot of help from this forum, the problem has been resolved.

As I had mentioned last week in my last post, we use VIEWFINITY as an add on permissions control feature.

Autocad, Autocad configurations and anything linking to Autocad was set with high permissions.

All interactions between software and files in the Windows 7 OS have the permissions determined by the highest level item.

In (my) our case, Autocad was set to the highest.

I was unable to :

  1. Drag and Drop Autocad files onto the Autocad Menu Bar (or anywhere inside Autocad)
  2. Drag and Drop LISP, Script and TXT file into Autocad
  3. Drag and Drop Image files into Autocad
  4. Run "SCRIPT PRO 2.0", which calls Autocad in a batch format to perform functions on objects

I'm sure there is more than can be added to this list.

But as of this morning, I am back to normal functionality with Autocad and all items on that list are now ENABLED and working.

Thankyou,

I modify when required !!

I've read through the post. I'm having the same issue, but we're not using VIEWFINITY. Are there any other settings preventing Drag/Drop of associated files from explorer into AutoCAD?

You didn't provide any information, such as whether you are running AutoCAD "as Administrator", user account privileges, compatibility mode setting, version of AutoCAD, version of Windows, etc. Did you try any of the other suggestions?
