what causes this?

The above picture happens to me daily using autocad mep 2013.  does anyone know what causes this.  As soon as I notice it the program starts to get funny and options don't seem to work correctly or the program crashes.  I have a dual zeon processor with 32mb of ram.

I remember seeing someone else with the same problem not too long ago, but I can't find that post.  I did find this one from 2011, though:

There doesn't appear to be a concrete solution there.  Updating video drivers may help.  At the very least you're not alone.
