Weird offset polyline geometry

Good afternoon,

I was wondering if anyone else has encountered an issue like this, or if anyone has an idea as to why this is happening.

In the attached file there is a simple polyline, which when offset produces geometry that is not quite correct. In this case, it is an approximate ellipse made from arc-segments that offsets into an approximate circle made of two arc segments.

The interesting thing is that by using the bpoly command you can get AutoCad to create a polyline that is virtually identical to the original, that offsets just fine. Using the bpoly command on the attached file can create a polyline that will work OK.

Obviously the original and the copy are slightly different, but I am trying to discover why one works, and the other does not.
