Hello from France

Welcome to the Autodesk/AutoCAD Forums !

Q1) Have you installed the SP1 for ACAD 2014 ?

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autocad-2014-service-...

Q2) Have you MANY strange Linetypes loaded ?

If YES, you are facing to the "DGN Linetypes" problem !

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/AutoCAD...

==== General Procedure to purge/filter DWGs ====

- Please open your DWG in RECOVER Mode

- Go back to Model Space

- PURGE+PURGE

- CANNOSCALE = 1:1

- SCALELISTEDIT and try to erase all possible scales except the 1:1

- ReSave / Quit / ReOpen

You have to do this first with ALL your XREFS DWG and last with the Main DWG ...

Waiting ...

Hi,

and to try some other options for cleaning/repairing the drawing:

  • use command _RECOVER (or command _RECOVERALL when there are XRef's used) to get defects repaired, if there are any.
  • once you have the drawing open you can try to run command _WBLOCK ansd create a new drawing based on what you have opened, but the new drawing is then as clean as possible (unused styles, blockdefinitions, ... are not transfered).

What you can try with your system:

  • disconnect it from network and internet (take your file first onto your C: drive)
  • disable your antivirus software (and close unused tasks on your system)

Good luck, - alfred -

Are you only having problems opening AutoCAD files (where there is a long delay)?  Or do you see this to some extent with other programs too?

Do you ever clean your TEMP folders or registry?  If not, a fairly safe program to use is CC Cleaner.  There's no guarantee this will help, but if you don't do this type of system maintenance on any kind of regular schedule you might want to try it and see if it makes any difference.

It's more likely the problem you have is in your AutoCAD file(s) somewhere.  But it never hurts to eliminate all the other possibilities.

Good luck!

Dave
