Unable to Password Protect Drawings

Hello,

I would like to Password Protect some of my drawings. I have tried several times with no success. When trying to set Password, I don't get a Password Confirmation Screen.

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (@ home) Windows 7 Pro (@ work)

AutoCAD 2013

Also have the same issue with 2012, and 2008.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How does it fail, do you get an error message?

No error message. After entering a password then clicking "OK", I nothing else happens. I'm under the impression (after reading the help text) that I should receive a password confirmation screen (that does not appear). When I click "OK" the screen does not change. Eventually I just have to click "Cancel" to exit the original Password screen.

use 7-Zip or Winzip to zip up the file, and assign a password there.

I think password protection is optional during the installation process.  I usually don't install it to avoid users trying to be clever and shooting me in the foot later.

I have checked my installation, and password protection is not one of the optional components.

I think it's only be an option when preparing a deployment, and not during a single, standalone install.

If you are able to get to the dialog below, then this feature was "installed"

I'm able to get to the Password screen, but no further. After entering a passowrd and clicking OK, nothing happens. Has anyone been able to apply a password to there drawings?

Are you saving your DWG to anything other than R2013 format?

Are you in a Windows Limited User account?

Are the files local, or on a server? If you mvoe them, can you then do what you need?
