Unable to edit text, hatch, viewports

Hello,

I've been working on a drawing for several weeks with dozens of layers.

Just recently the drawing will no longer let me edit texts (of any style mtext, text)

When I have objects selected and type a command followed by enter, it deselects all of my objects and asks me to select new ones.

Is there a setting I possibly turned on or off by accident?

The last time this happened, I deinstalled AutoCAD 2013 and installed a new version 2014.

Any input is helpful, thank you.

Thank you, is there a quick button that toggles it on and off so I know not to click it?

There is a GUI for it inside of OPTIONS, on the Selection tab, and it's called "Noun/Verb Selection"
