Too many Columns in my Data Link Table

I created a table from a excel data link. When i ran the table command it came in with 8 columns instead of the 6 that is in my excel file. How can i get rid of the last two columns. The area in the ribbon for deletion of columns is not active. Is there something i need to do in excel? My table style is set for 5 columns.

You just wrote it's an Excel document, linked into AutoCAD and not part of AutoCAD: Excel is controling that, if you are indeed creating a link to an Excel document as stated. AutoCAD doesn't control external apps documents that are linked.

Note: TABLESTYLE command does not control the number of rows or columns. TABLE command does that, but not applicable in this case.

I ended up copying the required cells into a new file & overwriting my linked file & it worked perfectly. Not sure why i was getting those extra columns. Another data link was getting extra rows. Whatever works i guess

I fixed this by doing the following:

Go to Formulas/Name Manager

Select the reference for the column titles

Click Edit

On the "Edit Name" popup click in the "Refers to:" box

Highlight the correct column names.

Click "OK"
