I was reading a lengthy post yesterday. One poster -revealed- a variable which changes the way selected objects are displayed.... What is that variable and where is it set other than the command line?

Command line only.... nowhere else.  They removed that section from it's previous location in Options > Display and the variables are not included in the SYSVDLG variables list.   I guess they really really really are in love with the idea of everything being either blue, or grey.
