Slow Saving autocad 2014

I draft for a telecommunications business and us autocad to keep records of our outsite plant facilities copper and fiber lines with terminals over a landbase. The map sizes run from 6 to 18MB, the 2003 autocad software would save in 2 seconds, the new autocad 2014 take 2.5 mins, and thats saving network or local machine......please help

2.5 minutes is excessive for your sizeof files: since there was no 2003 autocad version, can we also assume you're not on the same PC ornetowrk/server/external drive from 2002/2004 either?

Do things speed up if you save locally but your PC is completely disconnected from the network/internet (as a test of course)?

its just as slow saving locally as saving on the network
