Set civil 2014 has default in windows

Hi there,

I had an issue with my windows profile that was resolved by recreating a new copy one.

I've got Civil 3d 2012 and Civil 3d 2014 on workstation installed.

By mistake i've opened the 2012 version first and windows associated all the .dwg and other extensions with the 2012 version.

But i need to use the 2014 because of the aecobjects are with that version.

I tryed :
Right clicking and selecting the default program, choose the 2014 one. But windows doesnt seem to keep that selection.

I've even tryed repairing my installation of Civil 3d 2014 ( http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-2013-2014-2015/Set-AutoCAD-2015-as-default-for-opening-a-DWG-b...

I'm going short on ideas here ...

Anyone has a suggestion ?

You have a shortcut for both versions. Open 2014 with a blank drawing, then use OPEN menu to open the drawing you desire. From there on all drawings should open with 2014. That works here.

I guess my only way to fix this is to reinstall Civil 3d ?

In Windows Explorer right-click on a dwg file and select Open with then Choose default program. Mine is set to use AutoCAD DWG Launcher and it always sets the last program ran as the default for opening dwg files.

My drawings are Civil 3d btw.
Dunno if it's important to point out.

Btw, where is located the Autocad DWG Launcher ?
I can't find it in the programme directory

Hey hi there M_Hensley

I tryed this

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/DWG-fil...

Located the Autocad DWG Launcher ... selected it in the browse window to its location.

But it didnt appear in the list.

Retryed again 2-3 times.

I dont know if Autocad DWG Launcher has something to do with the type of windows maybe ?

It would have been quicker to just reinstall 2014 by now 🙂
