Depending on what you mean by 'original' ribbon, have you tried re-establishing a workspace?

Be very careful with the reset option, if you also have vertical AutoCAD applications installed.

We had a user that had both AutoCAD and AutoCAD Architecture 2014 installed, and upon using the RESET tool AutoCAD Architecture broke and had to be reinstalled.

The RIBBON command will turn the ribbon on, if you previously closed via the RIBBONCLOSE command.
