Rendering Issue

I am using civil 3d 2015.  If I render my surface and model viewed from the top my file renders fine.  If i adjust the view anyway autocad renders only black.

I have tried turning sun on and off, default lighting on and off, making my own lights and every combination.

It was working then just stopped.

All the materials applied are unmodified materials from autodesk.

Don't Civil3D styles have different display options for its specific objects, based on viewing direction e.g. "Plan" "Elevation" etc.?

Yes it does but it was working of Friday.  The tank is simple solids and should render using autocad's render command.
