Pline drawing only in X direction

hello,

i am quite new to AutoCad and im currently working on AutoCad 2014. The polyline is not moving in any direction other than X. I checked the snaps and tried to fix the drawing plane to .XZ but it says "Z coordinates not allowed here."

Sorry if its a basic question but this is not letting me proced with my work.

Thanks in Advance

Ayush

If I've understood correctly, you're trying to draw a 2D polyline along the Z axis. 2D plines may only be drawn in the XY-plane. You need to rotate your UCS (user coordinate system) about the X-axis to align the Y-axis with the former Z-axis. The easiest way is probably to define a new UCS using the command "ucs". You may then give the X-axis and a point on your desired XY-plane.
