Pan and zoom with middle mouse button slower than pan and zoom command

On some computers with AutoCAD 2013 SP2, pan and zoom launched with the middle mouse button is significantly slower than pan and zoom performed by launching the PAN or ZOOM command on the command line.

I did not believe it myself before I see it with my own eyes.

I've checked a billion of system variables, tips and tricks, but I was unable to find why.

Someone has an idea?

When you run .Zoom from the command line, what option are you using? Window, extents, all?

When you run .Pan from the command line, are you getting the old point-to-point pan method?

Is the slow mouse zoom and pan only in certain drawings?

Does it only happen in MS or in layouts or both?

Is it slow in a new empty drawing too? (with a couple of lines drawn for reference?)

So computers with R2013 Sp1.1 don't exhibit the problem?
Or did you just add SP2 for reference?

What is your system variable "zoomfactor" set to?

Real time (the default)

When you run .Pan from the command line, are you getting the old point-to-point pan method?

No, it's the real time one (for the point-to-point the command is -PAN).

All large drawings

Does it only happen in MS or in layouts or both?

Both

I don't think so

My problem seems to be similar to this one: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-2010-2011-2012-DWG/mbuttonpan-doesn-t-work/m-p/3408921#M58549

But it is not a Logitech mouse and the driver is the Windows standard (HID)

I have fought with this for years.  It started happening in about 2012, and now I'm running 2015. It happens on all of my installations on different computers.  It only happens in a viewport, and only with the middle wheel button.  In modelspace, there is no lag, no delay whatsoever when panning/zooming with the wheel -- it is only a viewport problem.  It's not due to any system variables that I can find as several computers demonstrate the same behavior with the same settings, or different settings... doesn't matter.  It's so bad that it's faster to switch back to modelspace and run layer management like v12 (that's 12, not 2012).

I've heard lots of people theorize about what might be cauzing it, but no one (who actually has the problem) can tell me how to solve it.  If it's been solved somewhere, please post or link.

Thanks!

ZOOMFACTOR set to 30 here, not seeing any slowdowns on the same PC I've had for R2012, 2013, 2014 nd now 2015.

Define "large files"please: your PC specs? "large files" in AutoCAD are slow. There is no miracle cure. Can you reproduce the problem in "small files"? If not a fix will be a challenge.

PS: Windows runs my wired mouse, no mouse driver.

Can you post a sample drawing.

The only time I notice different zoom/pan performance is when working with complex 3D models when the Visual Style(s) are different.   (2DWireframe is always fastest)

The problem here is not that PAN on some files is slow, it's that it's slow when using the middle mouse button, and normal when launching the PAN command on the command line.

I had the same problem and found out that the mouse was causing it. So problem solved with a new mouse. Both mice are logitech and there was no need for updated drivers or changed settings of any kind in C3D.
