Open GXD Files

We have a new customer that is using General Cad and it creates *.gxd files instead of *.dwg files.  Google searching brings up alot of results but i am scared to try them for fear of malware.  Does anyone have a reliable source to open and/or convert these to dwg?

having trouble searching on General CAD file types, but check with them to see if that software can save as dxf.

I sent them an email asking that but wanted to come here as well.  If i do get a response from them, i will be sure to post the reply here for future searches.

General CADD is a unique old low cost cad platform: they need to send you DXF or DWG files, or PDFs that you can use as underlays and draft over them.
